Job Description:

We are seeking a proactive, experienced and dedicated Care Home Manager to join our team at the pre-registration stage of our new care home. The ideal candidate will be a registered nurse with a valid NMC PIN and experience in managing a nursing home. Your role will be integral in establishing the new care home, setting up operational processes and systems, recruiting a dedicated team, and ensuring that we meet all regulatory requirements to successfully register the home.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Play a key role in the pre-registration phase of the new care home, including liaising with regulatory bodies, setting up systems and processes, and preparing for inspections.

2. Recruit, lead, motivate, and manage a multidisciplinary team, promoting an open, inclusive, and positive working environment.

3. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and practices to promote the highest standards of care and service.

4. Ensure that the home is prepared to run in compliance with all relevant legal and statutory requirements, including CQC standards.

5. Manage budget planning and set up financial monitoring systems.

6. Establish strong relationships with potential residents, their families, and other stakeholders.

7. Set up training and development systems to ensure that all staff are competent and confident in the skills required for their roles.

8. Work with medical professionals and staff to plan for meeting residents’ health and wellness needs.

9. Set up audit and inspection processes to ensure health and safety standards are adhered to from day one.


1. Registered Nurse with a valid NMC PIN.

2. NVQ Level 5 in Leadership for Health and Social Care or equivalent.

3. Significant experience as a Care Home Manager or a similar role in the healthcare sector, including experience in setting up a new care home.

4. Excellent knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements in the care home industry.

5. Proven leadership and people management skills.

6. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

7. Ability to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and make critical decisions under pressure.

8. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

9. Proficiency in MS Office and care home management software.
