The services support seven service users over three homes (two of which are next door to each other) over a four mile radius. Dignus are working in partnership with health and social care teams to support a group of individuals who are diagnosed with Learning Disability and/or mental health issues.

It is an expectation that all staff are to have, had or be part of the Covid-19 vaccination process unless they can provide an exemption reason.

Core Task:

To be the Registered Manager responsible for all aspects of the management and development of the service.

Summary of Responsibilities

1. Management

1.1 Co-ordinate the recruitment and selection process, including planning and implementing the induction and training of team members.

1.2 Provide direction, support, supervision and co-ordination to the team ensuring that all members of the team develop and maintain the appropriate skills to carry out their jobs efficiently and effectively. Advising on particular approaches to problems and providing effective solutions.

1.3 Ensuring that Health and Safety practice is maintained to a high standard, that regular checks are carried out in accordance with legislation, organisational policies and procedures and appropriate remedial action taken.

1.4 Compiling rotas, arranging leave and making adjustments to ensure that necessary staff cover and required skills are available.

1.5 Co-ordinate, plan and chair team meetings and house meetings and ensuring that the team facilitate meetings with the people we support.

1.7 Complete and review individual risk assessments to ensure appropriate strategies are in place to support people around their challenging behaviour.

1.8 Work alongside team members and service users, modelling good practice and providing support and advice.

1.9 Foster good relations within a positive style of management encouraging good teamwork promoting involvement of all team members in the decision-making process.

1.10 Participating in the effective implementation of Dignus Healthcare’s Quality Assurance programme. Liaising and co-operating with the Care Quality Commission.

1.11 Develop and implement an effective appraisal system for all team members. Monitoring performance and dealing with disciplinary matters as appropriate. Ensuring that staff have individual personal development meetings

1.12 Managing complaints and compliments in accordance with the procedures of Dignus Healthcare and external regulators.

1.13 Developing positive relationships with the local community, families, care managers, other professionals and outside agencies.

1.14 Participate as a member of the Regional Management Team contributing to further service development and to bring current issues and good practice to the attention of the Regional Operations Manager and Operations Director.

2. Support to service users

2.1 Promoting active community inclusion and ensuring that people acquire the skills and abilities and have the opportunities to make a positive contribution to their local community.

2.2 Empowering service users to be fully involved in the running of their own service offering meaningful choices and opportunities.

2.3 Devising individual plans in partnership with the service user and involving team members, social workers and other appropriate people as required. .

2.4 Ensuring that information and opportunities are made available to meet the cultural/religious/spiritual needs of service users.

2.5 Provide guidance and direction around safety and risk taking.

2.6 Ensure that people have the opportunities to develop the full range of personal relationships

2.7 Provide access to information and support to make informed choices and explore new experiences.

2.8 Provide an environment that stimulates personal growth.

2.9 Report immediately any incidence, suspicion, or sign of physical, verbal, sexual or financial abuse of a service user.

3. Administration and financial management

3.1 Ensure that financial controls are kept in line with budgets, income and Dignus Healthcare procedures, and that systems are in place to ensure accountability for all financial transactions.

3.2 Maintaining a high standard of administrative efficiency and ensuring that records are up to date and in line with Dignus Healthcare’s policies and the requirements of external regulators

3.3 Adherence to Dignus Healthcare policies and procedures, ensuring that all employees remain compliant

3.4 Writing reports as and when required

4. Training and development

4.1 Planning and co-ordinating effective team development including team building, training and positive role modelling.

4.2 Organising and leading mentoring sessions in response to the needs of service users and team members.

4.4 Attending meetings, working parties, conferences and other forums in order to keep up to date with working practice and legislation.

5. General

5.1 Complying with relevant legislation as directed

5.2 Driving company vehicles as required.

5.3 Representing the organisation in a professional manner at all times.

5.4 Ensuring your appearance is smart and professional, and that you lead by example at all times.

5.5 Participating in the ‘out of hours’ rota and providing on-call support to team members as required.

5.6 Undertaking any other duties commensurate with the post as required.
