Job Title: Registered Manager

Reports To: The Registered Provider / Directors

We are looking for a full time Registered Manager to oversee the safe and effective running of our West House Care Home (the ‘Home’) site. You will join our deputy manager and wider team in the provision of high quality care to our residents.

About the Home:

The Home is a 26-bed residential and nursing home situated in Chester-Le-Street, County Durham. The Home has a strong, longstanding local reputation for providing a high standard of care to our residents.

About You:

You should be an RGN with NMC registration. You should maintain up-to-date practice and professional development, professional standards of practice and behaviour as set out in the Code and engagement in professional discussions with other registered nurses to ensure ongoing readiness for revalidation with the NMC every 3 years.

You should possess a Level 5 Health and Social Care Management qualification as a minimum. Previous Care Home Management experience is essential.

You should also:

  • have a strong understanding of the needs of older people;
  • understand the CQC’s fundamental standards and their impact in care management;
  • be reasonably proficient in IT and the use of technology to assist with care planning and everyday management tasks;
  • have knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable adults to ensure a safe, effective, caring and responsive service is provided; and
  • be dedicated, with strong organisational and time management skills, ambitious to improve quality, forward looking and with strong leadership qualities to take the Home forward.

Job Purpose:

In summary, the purpose of the Registered Manager is to:

  • ensure the delivery of high-quality care, through the continual assessment of our residents’ needs and wishes and by developing the service to enhance their quality of life.
  • actively ensure the Home has the highest possible levels of occupancy by utilising links with the local community, positively marketing the Home and increasing public awareness of our services.
  • take on accountability for the Home, ensuring understanding of and compliance with all company policies and regulatory requirements. You should strive to achieve the best possible care rating and other external recognition of quality.
  • work with the businesses’ directors in managing the financial effectiveness of the Home, through proactively managing budgets and identifying opportunities to increase profitability and reduce cost.
  • take on an active leadership role. You will need to be a visible leader in the Home both to residents and staff. You should seek to equip staff to carry out the day-to-day care of the Home’s residents and appropriately delegate care responsibilities to them, which you should oversee. Your own involvement in day-to-day care should be limited.
  • manage every facility in the Home. This includes for example, matters such as laundry, cleaning, maintenance and catering.
  • develop staff. You will have the opportunity to develop your team, and where required grow it by recruiting the right people to grow the business. You should actively support their career development.

Salary: £35,000.00-£39,000.00 per year
